Wonder Woman of the Week: Ashmita’s Life Mission
Tammy: What were you put on this Earth to do? In other words, what’s your life’s purpose?
Ashmita: Wow, that’s a huge question, Tammy! To be honest, I am not sure. I just know that the path I am on now feels right. It feels right to make people more aware of equity. It feels right to work on creating more understanding and connection despite being different and it definitely feels right to be my own boss!
Tammy: What role does your work play in your life? How does it embody your values?
Ashmita: Oops guilty, I’m a bit of a workaholic — always have been. I did two studies during University and remember in one trimester taking 14 courses (I failed one though). However, I did learn to balance more as I got older. I guess it gets easier to relativize. For me work needs to contribute to my life’s mission, it needs to make sense and I need to feel this intrinsic motivation. So, I’m in the right place now.
Wonder Woman of the Week: Words of Encouragement
Tammy: What message would you like to give to other women?
Ashmita: Well for all the women who have been looking their whole life for purpose and meaning, just like me I would like to say: Although it looks like the answers are outside, all you need is already inside you. Find the stillness to hear it.
Tammy: Tell us about your relationship with clothing. What do you think about the act of getting dressed? What role does clothing serve for you? Does it hold a certain meaning or significance?
Ashmita: I think and have been told by others as well that I am quite versatile when it comes to clothing. I love many different looks. The corporate look, the sporty look, and of course sparkle look. Clothing to me is a way to express myself.
Influence of Clothing
Tammy: How has your relationship with clothing changed throughout your career?
Ashmita: While I was a bit younger, I mainly wore colors like grey and marine blue. Nowadays you can find me in neon orange shirts. Now, I definitely dare to show more of my personality through my clothes.
Tammy: Describe an outfit of yours that makes you feel like Wonder Woman when you wear it.
Ashmita: Last year, I bought a long jacket with sequins (in gold). This year I found the perfect gold and white sneakers to go with it. I love that outfit because it definitely shows what it is that I stand for with Sparkling Gems. Feel brave and bold to sparkle true to yourself and be your authentic self.
